Beautiful Portuguese Pottery by Bordallo Pinheiro

beautiful bordallo pinheiro pottery from portugal

With all the green of St. Patrick's Day, I thought I'd pull out my Bordallo Pinheiro plates for a tablescape.  I've been collecting these for quite a while.  Most of them are from thrift stores and yard sales but you can find them at TJ Maxx as well as eBay for vintage pieces.  My collection is made up of various patterns and hues of green.  Love mixing them together.

This is not a Pinheiro piece, that I know of.  It's unmarked but when I found four of them at the thrift store for less than $1 each, I had to have them.

Here's the tablescape using the dishes and some fresh (and faux) herbs.  Perfect for spring and, the Lord knows, after this winter, we're all ready for spring :)

I just included this last one because I think fresh lavender blooms are beautiful!

Do you collect a certain pattern of dishes?  As a fellow dish hoarder collector, I'd like to know!

Thanks for stopping by and God bless!

Pasta, Pesto, and Peas - The Perfect Dish for Spring

pasta-pesto-and-peas-spring-recipe

Several months ago when I helped with the Denim and Diamonds Charity Auction, the caterers served this delicious dish of pasta, pesto, and peas.  My daughter and I loved it so we came home and created our own version.

Basically, it's just five ingredients:  farfelle (bowtie) pasta, pesto, mayo, frozen peas, and parmesan cheese for a topping.  The taste, however, is anything but basic.  It's like a taste of spring in each bite.  Very fresh and light.

Simply prepare the pasta according to the directions on the box and drain.  Gently stir in the frozen peas, that have been thawed.

Allow the peas and pasta to cool while you mix together the mayo and pesto.  Combine the two well, adding salt and pepper to taste.

Gently stir the pesto/mayo into the peas and pasta.  Wow, this is becoming a tongue twister!

You're now ready to enjoy or refrigerate it for later!

And, just because it's almost St. Patrick's Day, and this pasta, pesto, and peas dish would be perfect for St. Patrick's Day (just to add more p's to the story), I garnished this dish with a sprig of parsley!

Here's a copy of the recipe to print...(gah! another p word!)

Faux Jadeite Shamrocks

faux jadeite shamrocks

This project is a quick and easy one.  I have to say thanks to Jenna of Rain On A Tin Roof for sharing her faux jadeite technique last fall.  I have made a couple of glass pieces but this idea came about after drinking some bottled water and then noticing the bottom of the bottle was shaped like a shamrock!

Once the bottle is empty, simple cut the bottom off.
Bottles are made of very thin plastic these days and cutting is very easy.

Krylon pistachio satin spray paint

This is the paint you'll need:  Krylon Pistachio in satin.
Just give each bottle end a coat or two and let dry.  That's it!

I used these as bowl fillers in an ironstone  bowl with moss.

This is a super easy project and one that gives beautiful results for such little effort!  My kind of project :)

Don't forget to check back on Mondays for our Something To Talk About link party.

Thanks for stopping by and God bless!!
