Two Great Bedrooms for Teenagers

two great bedroom ideas for teenagers

We have three girls, two of them still in their teenage years.  Decorating a bedroom for this age can be challenging.  You don't want anything too young nor too old.  My friend, Julie, has two girls in their teens too.  She recently made over both of their rooms, even making most of the furniture!  She's like super talented in all things DIY.

I twisted her arm into allowing me to share their rooms and her talents with you!

This is her youngest (15 year old) daughter's room.  Julie made the headboard along with the desk and wall decor.

Look at this awesome desk!

I love the light fixture over the bed.  It was originally sold as an exterior light for a shed or garage.  Julie rewired it as a plug in with a switch and hung it above the headboard.  Great for reading before bed time.

Julie created a focal point on the wall behind the bed with Royal Design Studio's Lisboa Tile stencil.  Using a very translucent white, it almost appears as a tone on tone.

She also made this really cute holder for her daughter's ukulele!  Using just a plain piece of barnwood, she added a U hook and painted the words to Somewhere Over The Rainbow on it.  Choose a different song and this would work great for a teen boys guitar as well!

More great wall decor Julie created using barn wood and leftover pieces from projects!

Here's the OTHER bedroom and it's just as fabulous!!  This is the bedroom of her 18 year daughter who's majoring in Horse Science at a local university.

I know!  Isn't this a great headboard!!  Don't have a place to use a barn door?  Now you do.  Use it as a headboard!  And, check out those lights!

As if that headboard wasn't incredible enough, this is the desk she made to go with it!  Real, authentic barn wood top built on an Ana White style base.

L to the OVE, we're talking LOVE folks!  Seriously.

Beautiful dresser she stained and painted to fit the room decor.

And a great necklace organizer made with old barn wood and drawer pulls.

Aren't these two great rooms?!  We came home and my youngest mentioned she'd like to change her room.  We both came away inspired for change!

Here's a peek at Julie's current project.

A ship lap wall in the hallway!

I know.

She's one talented lady!  I'm trying to convince her to start her own blog.  She can't keep all this talent to herself.  :)

Thanks for stopping by and God bless!
