Country Living Fair Nashville

country living fair nashville review and photos

This weekend, I attended the Country Living Fair in Nashville.  I'm SO glad Country Living decided to hold a fair in my area.   It was held at the Wilson County Fairgrounds in Lebanon and it was the perfect site.

I met up with this lovely group of ladies that we call The Nashville Influencers.  It's an awesome group and has provided so many opportunities for me.  I have to give a shout out to the ladies in the photo with me:  Nancy McNulty of Forest Home Media, Kristie Barnett of The Decorologist, Meryll Rose of Talk of the Town, Angela Roberts of Spinach Tiger, Dana Tucker of Forest Home Media and Bella Tucker, Beth Bryan of Unskinny Boppy, Geinger Hill of Forest Home Media, Rosemary Palmer of Not Just Paper and Paint, Deneen Glidwell of Dreaming in Color, Elizabeth Scruggs of Superior Construction and Design, and Denise Simons of Life Style with Denise Simons.  Some have blogs and I'd love for you to check them out!

Ready to see lots of photos from the fair?!  Here goes!

This bear rug reminded me of an episode of I Love Lucy
when she sneaked into Richard Widmark's house.  #bestshowever

Randomness

The weather was so nice this past weekend that I grabbed the camera one afternoon and just took some random shots.  I love living in the country...even though I complain sometimes about the drive in and out of town.  The complaint is short-lived once I'm home and remember why it is we live here.

Our fire pit area with makeshift benches of pallets and 2x4s and the old one my daughter made from logs and a pine board

The wood pile and old tub with our roasting sticks.

The old tree stump that once grew on the other side of the pond, died, fell, and floated to this side.  I love the way it's weathered.

Getting close to sunset.

An old, orange cylinder...love the color and graphics.

My frog statue, just hanging out behind the shed until he can sit by the pond again next spring.

Shutters with star cut-outs, jelly jar porch lights, and a corrugated metal flag on the shed.

And, last but not least, with the last of the sunlight, milkweed blooms, ready to fly.

I hope you enjoyed the randomness of this post.  I appreciate your stopping by and God bless!

Viola Gold - A Style Revival Steeped in History and A Giveaway

the altered past, viola gold, pocket squares

Do you know the history of the pocket square?  It actually goes all the way back to ancient times, up through the late 1700's when, it is said, Marie Antoinette convinced her husband, Louis XVI, to command that all handkerchiefs be 16 x 16 inch square.  Carried by true gentlemen, they were the symbol of wealth and class.

However, let's skip ahead a little to when they were actually used more for fashion not hygiene.  The early years of the 20th century found style savvy gentlemen wearing pocket squares with sleek suits and hats.  Its popularity remained over the next three decades before its use began to wane...until now.  The pocket square is, once again, becoming the icon of style for the gentleman. The hit show, Mad Men, may have something to do with reviving the pocket square.

Here in the South, my friends, Kristen and Travis, of Viola Gold, are helping reintroduce this throwback trend.  Named for Travis' tiny hometown of Viola, Tennessee, the company began in March of this year and has been a big hit with the 20-somethings on up.

Viola Gold offers pocket squares made from high quality cotton and linen as well some that are repurposed from old shirts of great quality and design.

Pocket squares are not only rich in history, they are stylish and versatile.  Wear them with suits as well as more casual attire.  From the board room to the Saturday afternoon tailgating party.

And, ladies, they're not just for the men.  The Viola Gold pocket square is for us too!  Check out this stylish look!

I know.  These are great!  AND, as a thank you to my wonderful readers, I'll be giving away one pocket square of your choice!  Check out their website ViolaGold.com  Then, enter below for your chance to win!

Thanks for stopping by and God bless!!
