Well, I finally did it...

Today, I finally sat down and worked on my first blog.  I have wanted to blog for a while but never took the time to do it.  My blog is to share my LOVE of vintage items.  Do you love things from the past?  Do you pick up an old apron and imagine the "June Cleaver" that may have worn it (along with a sweet dress, pantyhose, and pumps) while cooking her family's dinner.  Do you grab the old olive green Swingline stapler from the thrift store shelf and think about the clerk who used it to staple many hand typed pages in an open-windowed (non-air conditioned) office, sans cubicles?  Do you get excited to find an old recipe box brimming with handwritten recipes and old newspaper clippings for those dishes she hoped to try?  Well, I do...all of those things and more.    Maybe it's because I hate to see some things change, maybe I romanticize these articles of a time that seemed "simpler."  Anyway, collecting vintage items was something I have long had an addiction to but I never knew exactly what to do WITH them.  Display them?  They seemed out of context sitting in my contemporary home.  Use them?  Some items I do use but, truth be known, they really weren't as efficient as their new counterparts.  So enter the altering and creating new art from these beloved items.  It has freed me to collect, love, and create like never before.  Most items posted have already been sold or given as gifts.  New items will be sold using Etsy.  If you haven't checked out the Etsy website, let me encourage you to grab a cup of tea or coffee, curl up in your favorite spot and peruse the stores of some very creative artists and collectors.  You'll be glad you did.  Talk to you soon!
